Request for Group Conscious -- DEIG:

RE: Treating trusted servants with a little bit of appreciation and respect

According to the aa.org guidelines: When one does not feel safe in AA, there should be a group conscious call to discuss the matter. (The aa.org website has been rewritten and the safety guidelines are in revision at the time of this writing.)

According to Tradition 1, 2, 4 and 12 Downeast Intergroup should be ruled by the group and not a few authoritarians.

Since Downeast Intergroup will not follow the AA guidelines, I will say they can no longer be called an AA group.

There are many people in the Downeast Intergroup area that are very capable of participation in the Downeast Intergroup leadership but refuse to do so because of the authoritarian leadership. There are a few in leadership who have taken on many roles and push out people because the people they push out do not produce the results that the ones in leadership expect. Yes, it is commendable that Willy K will chair the meeting if he can remember to show up. Yes it is commendable the Willy K is the Area 28 secretary. Yes it is commendable that he runs a 7 pm meeting everyday.

Likewise Bill L is participating in Area 28 activities and Downeast Intergroup. He has been doing a good job keeping up the meeting list updated. He has also put together a good newsletter. Peter B is a ghost in the background.

"We understand that there have been issues with some of the changes we have requested" This occured because Willy K refused to listen to the former webmaster. He expects people to do what he says without listening to what they have to say.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Willy K has turned into a bully of a leader.

Since Downeast Intergroup no longer follows the aa.org guildelines, I will say with confidence that the Downeast Intergroup is no longer an aa group and has morphed into the environment that encouraged me to become a drunk.

"Each member of Alcoholics Anonymous is but a small part of a great whole. AA must continue to live or most of us will surely die. Hence our common welfare comes first. But individual welfare follows close afterward." Tradition One -- Long Form

As a result of the above experiences and facts I am requesting that the Downeast Organization have a group conscious meeting with a focus on how the leadership treats others.
